Wurlitzer Dedication Ceremony

On Sunday, January 14, 2001, an official ceremony was held prior to the 1:00 p.m. performance of The Sound of Music, dedicating the PPAC Wurlitzer organ in honor of Lincoln “Linc” W.N. Pratt. As PPAC house organist from 1982 until his death in 1998, Linc unfortunately did not live to see the completion of the glorious restorations to the theatre and the Wurlitzer console. A plaque in Linc’s honor was mounted on the console of this historic theatre pipe organ as it was dedicated by The Honorable Vincent A. Cianci, Jr., Mayor of Providence, PPAC President J.L. “Lynn” Singleton, and Barry Williams, star of The Sound of Music. Linc’s wife Mary, daughter Susan, and grandsons were also in attendance at the dedication ceremony. Family, friends, and colleagues attended the ceremony to honor and recognize his many years of commitment to the cultural life of our citizens.
